The Sandowns and the War

 

Over the years their have been three films with the name Sandown. 1916 was the first to feature the name, part of the ascot class for the Royal Navy. The second came along in 1934 as part of the Southern Railway fleet bringing passengers to the Isle of Wight, before being drafted by the Navy for the second world war, and being used in Normandy and D-Day. The third was HMS Sandown built in 1988 as part of the Navy's Sandown class. This film tells the story of these three ships. Released 5th September 2024.
